Symptoms

When attempting to start SPEED Ferret from within an Access session, SPEED Ferret 4.0 does not appear in the Add-Ins menu.

Cause

This behavior is by design. Previous versions of SPEED Ferret were implemented as add-ins which were capable of searching only a single database. SPEED Ferret 4.0 is a standalone executable capable of searching multiple Access databases, SQL Server databases, and Visual Basic projects at the same time.

Solution

You can start SPEED Ferret 4.0 by double-clicking the SPEED Ferret 4.0 icon on your desktop. You can also start it by clicking Start > Programs > SPEED Ferret.
